Internet Backroad

Internet Backroad is a functioning Chrome extension that I creates for the course Software Culture. As its title suggests, the extension is for people who want to escape from the so called "internet highroad" - the streamlined, highly effective, cooperate web that uses various dark design patterns to keep their customers on their platform for as long as possible. The consequences of this highroad is that users of the web consume curated and biased content - they get trapped in filter bubbles - and thus no longer go on wild explorations. Internet Backroad tries to reintroduce this feeling of wild exploration and getting lost (kind of like how the vernacular web1.0 worked) by adding turn signs to websites, when clicked on the user gets redirected to a random website.
