The Receptionist was a design made for a case competition/24-hours hackathon presented by AeroGuest - a company making digital solutions for hotels. 

Instead of making a solutionist design that improves the guest's hotel experience, The Receptionist points its fingers back at this increasingly digitalized hotel experience, within which the profession of human receptionist can become completely replaced by automated systems. Through our interviews and insights into real-life hotel receptionists, we realized the importance of human contact in ones hotel experience. This cube thus seeks to bring back the human relation into a speculated future world without receptionists.

In the prototype LED-strips are lined up against the back side of the acrylic cube, an attached Arduino board is processing the pulsation of light, and baking paper is attached to work as a diffuser. The data of the pulse will in a finalized version be tracked on a real-life employee.
